Indus script deciphered, revealing ancient Dravidian society and caste divisions.
The Indus script has been deciphered by finding similarities with another ancient script and using Dravidian words for sounds. The readings suggest that the Indus civilization was Dravidian and had caste divisions like modern South India. Caste names from the Indus civilization can still be found in North and South India. It is highly likely that the Indus script was influenced by the Protocuneiform script and that the Brahmi script partly came from the Indus script.
