Coastal Vietnamese at risk of contaminated water, urgent action needed
The study used GIS and statistical analysis to check water quality in Soc Trang, Vietnam. They found that the water had organic matter, nutrients, coliforms, and salt. The water quality index showed it was mostly poor to medium. By using cluster analysis, they grouped monitoring sites and months into seasons, saving money on monitoring. The maps showed that areas near the sea and in fields had worse water quality than those near the river. The combination of statistics and GIS helped analyze water quality data over time and space.
