Architectural styles are sets of rules for arranging building blocks in software design. A new framework called Alfa helps create these styles by combining basic building blocks called "architectural primitives". These primitives, like forms and functions, are common elements shared by different styles. The framework was tested using the pipe-and-filter style as an example.
