Egypt Reunited Under One King After Centuries of Division.
In ancient Egypt, King Mentuhotep II brought the country back together after years of division. He came from a line of powerful rulers in Thebes, starting with Intef the Great. By the time Mentuhotep II's grandfather ruled, they were calling themselves "King of Upper and Lower Egypt, Son of Ra." Mentuhotep II's achievement of reunifying Egypt was so significant that he was later honored alongside other great kings like Menes and Ahmose.
