ACCME grants fewer provisional accreditations, impacting national medical education.
The Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) has been accrediting sponsors of medical education activities for the past five years. They give provisional accreditation to new applicants, which is usually followed by full accreditation or non-accreditation after two years. Data from 1981-1985 shows that ACCME granted provisional accreditation to fewer applicants over time.
