Breakthrough Technique Boosts Fertility in Male Dogs, Revolutionizing Breeding
In the study, researchers wanted to improve sperm quality in dogs by using double layer centrifugation on dog semen. They tested how this technique affected total sperm movement and forward sperm movement when compared to traditional methods. The researchers looked at samples from 30 healthy male dogs, examining the semen at various stages like fresh, after dilution, and after different centrifugation methods. They found that double layer centrifugation significantly increased both total sperm movement and forward sperm movement in dogs. Moreover, cooling the treated semen right after centrifugation enhanced the quality for up to 48 hours. This method could be a helpful way to boost reproductive success in male breeding dogs.
