The article discusses three main stages of commodity-market economy. In the past, there were only two stages: simple commodity production and capitalist production. However, with the development of the market in the 20th century, this view has changed. People often mix up commodity economy with capitalism, but they are not the same. The traditional idea of fitting the commodity economy into the capitalist system has not been replaced by a new theory.
