Organic leguminous fodders boost rabbit growth and health significantly.
Researchers grew organic rice bean, soybean, and groundnut fodder to feed rabbits. They enriched the soil with rabbit manure and found good yields. The rabbits were fed a protein-rich diet and given the different fodders to eat. The rabbits grew well on all diets, with no significant difference in growth rate. Rabbits fed on rice bean and soybean fodder had better digestibility of protein and fiber. The type of fodder did not affect the production of volatile fatty acids in the rabbits, but soy fodder led to the highest ammonia production.
