Carp Diets Boost Healthy Fats, Improving Nutrition for Millions
The study looked at how different oils in the diet of carp fish affect the quality of their fatty acids. Carp fed with soybean oil and palm oil had better fatty acid profiles compared to those fed with fish oil. The type of oil in the diet influenced the levels of saturated, monounsaturated, and polyunsaturated fatty acids in the fish fillets. Fish fed with fish oil had higher levels of alpha-linolenic acid, while those fed with soybean oil had more oleic acid. Overall, the study found that feeding carp with suitable oil sources like soybean oil, palm oil, or a combination of both for 56 days improved their productivity.
