The representation of women in Assam's legislative assembly elections has not improved over the years. In 2021, the lowest number of women MLAs were elected compared to previous years. The study looked at how different political parties in Assam have changed in terms of electing women MLAs from 2001 to 2021. It also found a significant difference between the number of male and female MLAs elected. Regional parties in Assam should consider giving more opportunities to women candidates in elections compared to national parties.
