New model predicts soil salinity more accurately based on texture.
Soil texture affects how we measure soil salinity. A new model was created to predict salinity levels more accurately by considering the amount of sand in the soil. The model uses the electrical conductivity of soil-water extracts to estimate the standard measure of soil salinity. This model works best for highly saline soils compared to low saline soils. Further testing is needed to see if it works well in other locations.
