Extreme Weather Disproportionately Impacts Marginalized Communities in the U.S.
Recent extreme weather events in the United States have impacted a large portion of the population, with 86% reporting some level of impact. One-third of people experienced significant impacts. Those most affected are more likely to be Black or Hispanic and have lower incomes. Women, those without a bachelor's degree, and rural residents also reported higher impacts. This shows that extreme weather impacts are widespread and disproportionately affect vulnerable populations.
