Växjö Municipality on Track to Achieve Carbon Neutrality by 2030
The municipality of Växjö in Sweden aims to be carbon neutral by 2030. A study looked at different scenarios for their future energy system using a simulation tool. The current system can meet future heat demand, but supplying electricity for all sectors and fuels for transport and industry is a challenge. In the short term, being carbon neutral is possible without major changes. However, in the long term, investing in renewable energy and carbon capture is needed. Planning for a carbon-neutral Växjö through local investments is a feasible strategy.
