The article explores ways to reduce economic inequality between different regions in Russia. By using a new method that combines economic geography and statistical analysis, the researchers found that the current way of dividing the country into 12 macroregions doesn't effectively decrease the differences between regions. They developed a new method that focuses on improving interactions between regions to help reduce these inequalities. This method uses a gravity model and cluster analysis to create more balanced and connected regions, ultimately aiming to promote more equal development across the country.
