Rising Nonperforming Loans Threaten Stability of Malaysia's Commercial Banks.
The article discusses how nonperforming loans in Malaysia's commercial banks are increasing due to banks not monitoring loans properly. This leads to issues in managing bank performance. Aggressive lending without proper credit assessment worsens the problem. The study uses diagrams and discussions to analyze trends and issues. Findings show that bank characteristics and economic conditions, especially during crises, contribute to the rise in nonperforming loans. It is recommended for banks to focus on internal characteristics and for the government to stabilize macroeconomic conditions to prevent issues during unexpected crises. Future research should investigate the impact of these issues on nonperforming loans.
