Soil erosion reduced and water conservation improved in Guizhou Province.
The researchers studied soil and water conservation in Guizhou Province, China from 2000 to 2019. They used GIS technology and a soil loss equation to analyze soil erosion. They found that soil erosion was higher in the west and lower in the southeast, especially in karst areas. Over the years, soil erosion decreased and the conservation ratio increased. Some areas saw a decrease in erosion intensity, while others showed sporadic patches of increased erosion likely due to development projects. This study helps in planning effective soil and water conservation efforts in the region.
