Bioretention systems could revolutionize urban stormwater management, new models reveal.
Bioretention systems are used to reduce stormwater runoff in urban areas. Two models, DRAINMOD-Urban and SWMM, were compared to see how well they simulate bioretention performance. DRAINMOD-Urban was better at replicating drainage patterns, while SWMM was closer to actual water volumes. By combining the strengths of both models, we can improve bioretention cell modeling.
