The article introduces a new task called updated headline generation, where a system creates a headline for an updated news article by identifying new information and modifying the existing headline. By using prior article versions and headlines, the system produces accurate headlines with fewer unnecessary changes. This approach outperforms standard headline generation models and sets benchmarks for this type of contextual summarization task.
