New irrigation regime for winter wheat boosts yield and saves water!
The study aimed to find the best way to water winter wheat to save water and still get a good harvest. They tested three watering methods over four years: no irrigation, watering at planting and early growth, and watering at planting, early growth, and flowering. They found that the second method gave similar yields to the third method but used less water and cost less. By giving the wheat a certain amount of water before flowering and keeping the soil moist during flowering, they were able to get high yields and save water. This could help farmers grow more wheat while using less water.
