Methane emissions not to blame for US air pollution rise
US atmospheric methane levels increased in the US from 2007-2015, but it was mainly due to changes in weather patterns, not increased emissions from natural gas production. The study found that variations in wind speed and other meteorological factors were responsible for the observed rise in methane levels, rather than an increase in emissions. This suggests that the growth in natural gas production during this time did not directly lead to higher methane emissions in the US.
