Daytime and nighttime precipitation in the Huai River Basin were studied from 1961 to 2018. Nighttime precipitation was slightly higher than daytime precipitation. Extreme precipitation events were more likely to occur at night. The amount of extreme precipitation has been increasing, mainly due to more nighttime precipitation. The risk of extreme precipitation events is higher in the southern part of the basin.
