New method improves accuracy of economic data collection in surveys.
The article introduces new methods to estimate population data when some information is missing. By using a ratio method, the researchers developed estimators for population mean and total, along with variance estimators. These new estimators are almost unbiased when sampling without replacement and facing nonresponse. In simulations, the new estimators outperformed existing ones in terms of accuracy. An application to Thai maize data showed that the new estimators provided smaller variance estimates compared to current methods.
