Human activities leading to disproportionate loss of threatened terrestrial mammals.
The study looked at how human activities affect threatened and non-threatened mammals in mountain forests in southwest China. They found that areas with more human impact had fewer threatened species, but more non-threatened species. Threatened species were more likely to be found in areas with diverse habitats. This shows that human activities can cause a disproportionate loss of threatened mammals, emphasizing the need to focus on protecting these species separately from others.
