Requirements are gathered from customers and stakeholders through interviews and analysis of similar products. The study found that only a third to just over a third of requirements directly come from initial customer ideas. The rest are new or inspired by other products, with up to 21% being completely new topics. App store analysis led to additional features in up to 42% of requirements. This shows that requirements are not just gathered but co-created during interviews, with analysts playing a key role. App store inspiration can greatly enhance the completeness of requirements.
