The scientists developed a method to improve 3D building models by adding underpasses using laser scanning data. They compared existing building models with laser measurements to find where underpasses were missing. By adjusting the models, they increased accuracy by 12 cm. Testing on a university campus dataset showed improvements in building volumes and surfaces. This enhancement can help with vehicle navigation and urban planning.
