New herbicide combo boosts wheat yield by 46% while killing resistant weeds.
Weeds like Phalaris minor Retz. can harm wheat crops in India. Farmers often use herbicides to control weeds, but using the same herbicides too much can make the weeds resistant. A study in Haryana found that using a mix of different herbicides at different times can effectively control herbicide-resistant P. minor and other weeds in wheat fields. This led to healthier wheat plants and higher grain yields compared to fields with untreated weeds. Some herbicides caused slight harm to the wheat plants, but this went away as the plants grew. Using a mix of herbicides with different ways of working is a good way to manage herbicide-resistant P. minor in wheat fields.
