Waste Corncob Transformed into Powerful Heavy Metal Remover
The researchers studied how treating corncob waste with acid and alkali affects its structure for use as a biosorbent to remove heavy metals. They analyzed the corncob samples using FTIR and BET analysis. The results showed that treating corncob with KOH and H3PO4 increased its surface area, making it more effective at removing heavy metals. The functional groups in corncob also changed slightly after treatment. This study demonstrates that modifying corncob can enhance its ability to adsorb heavy metals.
