Anthropogenic Releases Impact Marine Sedimentation in Adriatic Bay
The study used 137Cs sediment profiles to understand how sedimentation processes work in Kaštela Bay. They found that sedimentation is mostly continuous in the central and south parts of the Bay, but more complex in the west. The west part has slow sedimentation and erosion, with fine particles moving to other areas. The upper 10 cm of sediment is easily mixed. The Jadro River and human activities in the east increase sediment input and mixing. Overall, 137Cs profiles can help understand sedimentation in similar environments.
