Mixing aquatic plants boosts water purification in damaged ecosystems
Planting different types of underwater plants in damaged water bodies can help improve water quality and remove nutrients. In this study, three common underwater plants were tested to see how they affect water quality and nutrient removal. The results showed that combinations of one or two types of plants had higher biomass and removed more nitrogen compared to combinations of three types. The study suggests that using a variety of plant combinations and managing the plants properly can lead to better restoration outcomes in damaged water ecosystems.
