Drought Experiences Unlock Effective Water Conservation Policies
This study looked at how people in Oklahoma respond to water scarcity experiences in terms of conserving water at home. They found that individuals who have faced drought and are concerned about water sustainability tend to take more actions to save water without spending money. Only experiencing drought leads to people taking more water-saving actions that cost money. The researchers suggest that government initiatives to save water could be more effective by using drought experiences to get the public to pay attention and take action to reduce household water waste.
