Insufficient Tail Stiffness in Insulated Carriage Raises Safety Concerns
The stiffness of an insulated carriage was analyzed using finite element theory. Insulated carriages need to have strong bending and torsional stiffness when carrying heavy loads. The study found that the tail of the carriage had too much deformation and not enough stiffness under bending conditions. To fix this, the tail bending stiffness of the carriage needs to be improved through structural optimization.
