The metal organic framework UiO-66 can separate n-butane and isobutane efficiently. n-butane moves faster through the material than isobutane due to lower energy barriers and higher diffusion rates. This suggests that UiO-66 can selectively separate n-butane from isobutane in a mixture based on kinetic properties.
