Triassic discovery in India redefines ancient plant species boundaries.
The researchers studied the structure of leaf cells from three types of Dicroidium plants found in rocks from the Triassic period in India. They found that the leaf structure supports the idea that Dicroidium and Thinnfeldia are different plant genera. They also showed that the name Danaeopsis, previously used for one of the plants, is not correct. Overall, the evidence suggests that India's Triassic rocks contain a Dicroidium plant group, making it part of the Indian Middle Gondwana flora.
