Bond markets in Africa are not as developed as in other regions, with some countries lacking corporate bond markets. The review highlights the importance of understanding the challenges and determinants of bond market development in Africa. Despite being shallow, African bond markets are competitive compared to other developing economies. They are also less integrated than markets in industrialized and developing regions. To improve African bond markets, a comprehensive regulatory framework, regional market integration, and partnerships with developed markets are essential.
