Degradation of Jordan's Rangeland Ecosystems Threatens Vital Ecosystem Services.
The study looked at how human actions and perceptions affect rangeland ecosystems in Jordan's Al-Sorrah Reserve. By interviewing pastoralists, researchers found different groups with varying attitudes towards grazing inside the reserve. Three main pastoralist groups were identified based on their grazing habits and environmental attitudes. Most pastoralists currently do not consider the impact of their activities on the rangeland. The results suggest that integrating social-ecological systems into rangeland management and national policy could improve knowledge and actions to better manage the rangeland.
