Reduced River Loadings Lead to Improved Water Quality at Lake Dianchi
Researchers used a hydrodynamic model to estimate the water volume and external loading in Lake Dianchi. They found that precipitation is the main source of water for the lake. River loadings decreased after a drought in 2011, leading to improved water quality. Main inflow rivers include Panlong River, Daqing River, and Jinjia River. Despite reductions in external loading, other factors may still affect water quality. Internal release also contributes to nutrient levels in the lake. To improve water quality, both external and internal loading reductions are necessary.
