Sperm quality declines with age, men urged to start families earlier
The article studied how sperm quality in men from the Sichuan area is affected by age and other factors. They looked at data from 18,200 men to see how age, semen volume, sperm concentration, and sperm shape influence sperm movement (motility). The results showed that higher semen volume, sperm concentration, and normal sperm shape are linked to better sperm movement. However, as men age, their sperm motility tends to decrease, especially after age 40. Sperm concentration had the biggest impact on sperm movement. In conclusion, the study found that age and semen parameters affect sperm motility, and older men may experience a decline in sperm quality, particularly after 40 years old.
