Dwindling water resources threaten livelihoods in China's Hexi Corridor
The Hexi Corridor's ecosystem has improved from 2000 to 2020, especially in the eastern areas with better ecological backgrounds. The ecosystem services like water conservation have increased due to changes in vegetation. However, there are differences in how ecosystem services interact in different regions. Dry land and water scarcity play a big role in shaping the ecosystem and its services. Managing and protecting dryland ecosystems should focus on assessing each region's unique characteristics and improving ecosystem stability to enhance services over time.
