Higher nitrogen doses and foliar fertilization boost sunflower yield and quality.
The researchers studied how different amounts of nitrogen and micronutrient fertilizers affected the yield and quality of sunflower seeds. They found that using higher nitrogen doses and foliar fertilization improved plant growth and protein content in the seeds. In the first year, combining 60 or 90 kg of nitrogen with foliar fertilization resulted in higher yields compared to using only 60 kg of nitrogen. However, in the second year, the average yield was higher overall. Economic calculations showed that using 60 kg of nitrogen with foliar fertilization was the most profitable option.
