GIS maps reveal soil properties in Saudi Oasis, aiding agriculture expansion.
The goal of the study was to create digital maps showing the physical and hydraulic soil properties of the Al-Ahsa Oasis in Saudi Arabia using GIS technology. By analyzing soil data from 566 points, the researchers found that sand dominates the northeast area, likely due to drifting sand. Silt and clay content increased in other locations. Bulk density was positively correlated with sand and negatively with silt. Soil hydraulic properties were positively linked to silt and bulk density, and negatively to sand content. These maps can be useful for agriculture and environmental studies in the region.
