Methane is a powerful greenhouse gas, and in Malaysia, the Energy Sector, including the Oil and Gas Industry, contributes about 20% of greenhouse gas emissions. To accurately measure and reduce methane emissions, PETRONAS conducted studies in 2020 and 2021 on various facilities. They found that most methane emissions come from venting, flaring, and fugitive emissions, highlighting the need for comprehensive management to reduce these emissions.
