Miscanthus Bioenergy Unlocks Pathway to Sustainable Power and Negative Emissions
In this research, scientists investigated different ways to make energy from a plant called Miscanthus while capturing carbon dioxide to help combat climate change. They looked at using the plant to create hydrogen gas and comparing it to burning it with oxygen. When they used steam to turn the plant into hydrogen, they made a lot of power and captured almost all the CO2. Burning the plant with oxygen made even more power but captured less CO2. So, if you want lots of power and are okay with less CO2 capture, burning with oxygen is better. But if you care more about capturing CO2, using steam to make hydrogen is the way to go.
