Extreme Rainfall Modeling Reveals Increasing Flood Risk in Thailand Province
The article analyzes extreme rainfall data in Phitsanulok province, Thailand, from 1987 to 2021 to predict flood risks for agriculture. By using mathematical models, the researchers found that the Gumbel distribution fits well for extreme annual rainfall, while the generalized Pareto distribution works for daily rainfall. The results show an increasing trend in return levels with longer return periods, indicating a rising risk of floods in the region.
