Electricity Consumption in Wastewater Treatment Plants Linked to Environmental Damage.
Municipal wastewater treatment plants in Northeast China use a lot of electricity, which harms the environment. To reduce energy use, researchers studied a plant from 2017 to 2020. They found that more wastewater in summer means more electricity used, but in winter, electricity use is higher overall. Also, high levels of certain pollutants in the wastewater can increase electricity consumption. Some samples had more pollutants than they should, which is not good for the environment.
