Dynamic River Mujnai Erosion Threatens Villages in Himalayan Basin
River bank erosion is a big problem in the Himalayan region, especially in the Mujnai river. Scientists studied the erosion susceptibility using a special model and historical data from 1955 to 2021. They found that areas like Deoagaon and Dhulagaon are at high risk of erosion. The river's width and banks have changed over the years, with the left bank moving about 141.08 meters per year in 1980. The erosion is mainly caused by the type of sediment and the flow of water during the monsoon season. To protect the river banks, they suggest using techniques like planting trees and using special fabrics.
