Composting in Developing Countries Reduces Waste Mass and Produces Quality Compost
Composting organic waste can help reduce the amount of trash sent to landfills and lessen its environmental impact. In Algeria, researchers found that composting green waste, kitchen waste, and a mix of both reduced their mass significantly. The composting process was successful, with the resulting compost meeting quality standards for agricultural use. The compost made from kitchen scraps alone had the highest germination rate, indicating its quality. This study shows that composting is a sustainable way to manage waste and produce beneficial compost for agriculture.
