The researchers studied how different genes affect the levels of healthy oleic acid in peanut seeds as they mature. They found three new genes that may play a role in this process. One of these genes, AhFAD2-7, was linked to higher levels of linoleic acid in the seeds. This suggests that AhFAD2-7 is important for the accumulation of oleic and linoleic acids in peanuts as they grow.
