Pile foundations revolutionize embankment safety on soft soil slopes.
The researchers studied how adding pile foundations to embankments on soft soil slopes affects stability. They used a computer model to see how different pile positions and lengths impact safety and deformation. Results showed that where the piles are placed greatly affects embankment safety and deformation. A 3 m pile caused 27 times more vertical deformation than a 7 m pile. Varying pile lengths reduced horizontal displacement by up to 83.3%. This research can help design safer embankments on soft soil slopes with pile foundations.
