Pandemic shifts Californians to e-grocery and click-and-pick shopping methods
The study looked at how COVID-19 changed grocery shopping habits in California. They surveyed people in May 2021 and found that most Californians shopped in-person less often during the pandemic. Many started using e-grocery and click-and-pick services more. Older people still preferred in-store shopping. African American households shopped in-store less than White households before the pandemic, but may use more e-grocery and click-and-pick after. Areas with more environmental injustice had less in-store shopping. This information can affect how people travel, how food is delivered, and how parking is managed.
