Monsoon season boosts hawkmoth diversity in Western Ghats conservation efforts.
The researchers studied hawkmoths in the Western Ghats of Maharashtra, India, to understand their diversity patterns over five years. They found 18 species of hawkmoths, with the highest diversity during the Monsoon season. One new species, Theretra sumatrensis, was discovered in the region. The most diverse sampling station was Wani, with high species evenness. The study suggests that regular assessments of diversity are important for conservation efforts.
